Building a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Network

Click to learn more about CSAThis project aims to build support and networking opportunities for CSA programs in Northwestern Ontario. The overall goal is to provide existing and aspiring local farmers, and interested consumers with support and opportunities to share information and create partnerships.

Some of the priorities of this initiative will include:
• Increasing public awareness of the CSA concept/model
• Strengthening the knowledge base needed for managing successful CSA farms
• Highlighting the direct benefits of CSA to local producers and consumers
• Mobilizing collective action by farmers and consumers and motivating the general public to become involved
• Creating supportive grower communities
• Providing information about the real cost of food production
• Exploring issues surrounding sustainable food production systems

The Food Security Research Network’s CSA Working Group will solicit input from local growers and community members/consumers on how to proceed with the development of the CSA Network.
